I was taking 200mg of Resveratrol 100mg twice a day for about 10 days. I started noticing hive like eruptions on my legs. Has anyone else ever had this reaction. I am still not sure if it’s from the Resveratrol, but stopped taking it about 10 days ago. So far the hives are still there but no new ones have appeared. Please comment
Hi Johanna, I have been taking about 450mg a day of Resveratrol(225mg twice daily)and have not had those type of effects. I have been taking Resveratrol about three weeks now.

Will Resveratrol raise red blood cells, and hemoglobin? Found this site from reading benefits from drinking red wine
Just purchased Resveratrol from health-food store. Took 1st dose this morning, according to directions. Had a 1 oz dose (liquid form) and within 1 hr or so had SERIOUS diahhria and vomiting!! Very scary, but as soon as it was out of my system, all was okay. I will try it again, but maybe need to start with less & build up. My husband took the same amount & he was fine…….hummm!
I have suffered hives from sulfites in wine and unfortunately have the same reaction to resevertol. My friend, however, has smoother younger looking skin and zero side effects, so it isn’t all bad.
The first time I took Resveratrol, I felt my body react to it–it was a rush. Within a week, I started to feel strange, tired. One my students even commented on my tired looks. another week went by and I started to feel abdominal cramps, dizzyness. Four days ago, the hives appeared and my ears and lips started to swell. I have stopped taking Resveratrol. I still have abdominal pain and hives. I’m waiting to see how long this takes to go away. I’m wondering if Resveratrol was really the cause. The only way to see if it is the cause is to start taking it again after the hives clear and see if they re-appear. I’m a little afraid I might have a massive reaction if I try that.
