Resveratrol And Breast Cancer

In yet another profoundly significant resveratrol study by researchers from the University of Nebraska, the scientists discovered that resveratrol inhibits estrogen from causing breast cancer in test-tube experiments.

Dr Rogan and her collegues discovered that resveratrol decreases the production of estrogen into dangerous estrogen metabolites, which are toxic compounds that react with the DNA in breast cells and activate the growth of cancerous tumors.

These estrogen metabolites are created when the female body’s system for processing the estrogen gets out of balance. How the imbalance occurs is debatable, but the evidence that resveratrol, administered in low doses, has anti cancer effects in a lab test tube study are very promising indeed.

In addition, Rogan and her team discovered that resveratrol augments the creation of an enzyme that eliminates the dangerous estrogen metabolites as well.

In summary, the University of Nebraska research team concluded that resveratrol has the capacity to prevent and potentially reverse the initial phase of estrogen imbalance and estrogen metabolite production that can lead to breast cancer tumors in woman.

Their findings were reported in the July issue of Cancer Prevention Research.
